Position Overview

The Safety Manager will assist the Corporate HSE Director and HSE Senior Manager (Dredging Division) across Dredging health, safety and environmental (HSE) matters.

This position will be based at our Dredging Yard in Houma, Louisiana. 

Responsibilities

●    Supporting the Corporate HSE Director and HSE Manager (Dredging Division) to effectively identify, develop, implement and sustain the HSE divisional-level goals and objectives
●    Conduct regular field inspections and audits of projects, equipment, and processes to identify potential hazards, opportunities for improvement and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. 
●    Oversee coordination of safety training programs for employees.
●    Coordinate investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and development corrective actions to prevent recurrence. 
●    Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, inspections, trainings, and compliance related activities.
●    Respond promptly to safety-related incidents, ensuring timely communication and notification to appropriate personnel, departments, and regulatory bodies as required. 
●    Collaborate with managers and employees to promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability.
●    Manage relationships with regulatory agencies, inspectors, and external safety consultants
●    Develop emergency response plans and procedures to ensure readiness.
●    Provide guidance and support on safety related issues and initiatives.
●    Analyze data and trends to identify areas of improvement and develop strategies to enhance safety performance.
●    Communicate safety policies, procedures, and updates to all levels within the organization.
●    Coordinate continuing education and professional development of HSE staff. 

Qualifications

●    Minimum of 10 years of work experience in health, safety and environmental field. Heavy Civil Marine experience preferred
●    Bachelor's degree (preferred) in related field or a combination of education and related experience 
●    Knowledge and experience in OSHA and Maritime regulations. USACE and USCG experienced desired
●    OSHA sponsored and approved competent person training in regulatory requirements preferred
●    Demonstrated leadership and ability to influence and engage others in safety initiatives
●    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees at all levels within an organization
●    Ability to handle crises calmly and professionally. 
●    Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time management skills
●    Ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
●    Live/work on vessel
●    Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software
