Position Overview

Weeks Marine is seeking a motivated Environmental Specialist to join our team and facilitate environmental excellence across dredging operations. This role supports the Environmental Manager in implementation of our Environmental Program and adherence to federal, state, and local environmental regulations across multiple dredging projects and support facilities. The ideal candidate will be detail oriented with experience and understanding in field operations.

Location

This position will be based out of Covington, LA but requires travel throughout the Gulf and East Coast region. 

Responsibilities

•    Support environmental compliance for dredging projects and yards.
•    Assist with identifying environmental risks and regulatory requirements.
•    Conduct environmental assessments and inspections of projects and support facilities.
•    Review lab analytical data.
•    Assist with environmental data tracking, reporting, and cost forecasting.
•    Support development and delivery of environmental training for all staff levels.
•    Coordinate with project teams to develop a strong environmental program at the project level.
•    Assist with compliance auditing.

Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
•    5+ years of environmental compliance experience in construction or dredging.
•    Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations.
•    Strong work ethic, willing to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time.
•    Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity.
•    Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
•    Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals and objectives.
•    Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
•    Willingness to travel frequently (70% of the time).


Preferred:
•    Experience with Army Corps Construction (USACE), marine, or dredging projects.
•    Environmental certifications or professional licensure.
•    Storm water compliance certification 
•    Experience supporting environmental management systems.
