Position Overview

As a Superintendent, you will be exposed to a variety of field activities in order to develop your understanding of construction supervision. At the beginning, you can expect to spend time learning and working on shop drawings, submittals, schedules, craft supervision, and project documentation. While learning these things you will have the opportunity to travel the country building complex projects that make a profound impact on communities. District Overview

Ganotec is a full service, heavy industrial contractor serving the industrial sector across Canada. Ganotec typically self performs all major disciplines including, civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping and electrical / instrumentation and controls. We conduct our business through a variety of commercial contract styles including full turnkey, EPC, design build, T&M and conventional discipline packages. We have always been a strong proponent of “partnering”, working in collaboration with owners, major equipment suppliers and engineers at the early stages of the project development phase to allow for a more cost-effective execution strategy for the project. Ganotec continues to position ourselves towards the future, constantly seeking growth opportunities yet never losing sight of what has made the company so successful. 

Location

Responsibilities

  • Daily planning of foreman and crew activities
  • Assists in the coordination and planning of projects in a particular construction area
  • Oversees all operations relating to a specific discipline/segment of work
  • Directs discipline craft supervisors on site
  • Performs daily inspections of work performed
  • Provides job safety training and awareness for personnel
  • Establishes budgetary guidelines for the job, and ensures that cost control measures are being followed
  • Establishes quality standards of all jobs, and ensures that all quality assurance and company standards are being met

Qualifications

  • Ability to travel and relocate as needed
  • 5-10 years’ work experience in construction, with at least 3+ years in a supervisory role
  • Experience in oil & gas industry is a must
  • Experience managing a team of 10 to 25 electricians an asset
  • Advanced knowledge of various construction disciplines, union agreements and jurisdictional issues, safety regulations, scheduling, cost control, engineering drawings, and other documents 
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently supervise and evaluate craft performance
  • Highly motivated, with a demonstrated passion for excellence and taking initiative 
  • Strong work ethic, willingness to do what it takes to get the job done right the first time 
  • Demonstrated commitment to ethics and integrity 
  • Passion for safety, with the ability to help us ensure that nobody gets hurt 
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines, goals, and objectives 
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
